‘Journalist - Influencer’, the Twitch live stream that deciphers the information revolution

News
Published on October 03, 2024

Nearly half of the under-30s use TikTok for information, HugoDécrypte now has 14 million subscribers (more than Le Monde) and 54% of French people think we should be suspicious of the way the traditional media treat major current affairs - 3 points more than in 2023.

Faced with changes in uses and the multiplication of sources of information, it is a serious challenge to question the information landscape, in all its forms, and more specifically that of young people. Méta-Media explored this theme in its last Trends Book, Journalistes-Influenceurs : moins de média, plus de service? (Journalists-Influencers: less media, more service? and now we're taking a new approach: a Twitch live show aimed at young people!

A programme for and with young people

Join us on Slash's Twitch on 12 November for a live chat with the four special guests: Adeline Hulin, Chief of UNESCO's Media and Information Literacy Unit, Jean Massiet, streamer and political populariser, Justine Reix, journalist and journalism school teacher, and Samuel Etienne, journalist and streamer.

How do young people get their information today, and who are their main sources? Are journalists still the only true guardians of information? How do we distinguish between journalists and content creators? And, above all, is there a need to do so?  Is it possible for these players to draw inspiration from each other? What bridges can be built to strengthen collaboration between these different worlds?

These are the questions that the guests will try to answer during this interactive and participative live show. The programme has been designed entirely with young people in mind, and aims to get them involved. This approach is built on a questionnaire already online here to gather their questions and testimonies, and will continue during the programme thanks to the chat

A strong commitment from France Télévisions

France Télévisions has a strong commitment to understanding and reaching out to all audiences. This programme will provide a better understanding of the information habits and expectations of the youngest among us, while giving them a clearer picture of the plethora of sources and players available to them today. The stream will be broadcast live in partner schools as part of the Media and Information Education programme.

See you on 12 November live on Slash's Twitch!
