Since Tuesday, November 5, franceinfo: has become the first news service in France to offer synchronized subtitles from 6:30 a.m. to midnight.
An exceptional event calls for exceptional set-up! For several months now, La Fabrique of France Télévisions Fabrique has been fully mobilised to provide viewers with fluid, immersive coverage of the Paris 2024 Olympic & Paralympic Games. A major challenge that has been brilliantly met (at least so far)! We take you behind the scenes of the technical preparations.
France Télévisions is innovating by offering you a unique immersive experience: immerse yourself in the heart of sporting events thanks to 360° videos in 3D and spatialized sound, as well as a gaming section allowing you to become an Olympic athlete (only available on MetaQuest).
Equipped with 5G and Starlink technologies, the ‘Vélos Eco-Direct’ will make it easier for mobile video news teams to get around Paris in eco-responsible vehicles, while maintaining the quality standards required for their missions.
Each year, the tournament is an opportunity to deploy new technologies. This year 2024 is special with the launch in January of the France 2 UHD and France 3 UHD channels on the one hand and the Olympic and Paralympic Games on the other.
With 70% of French households now equipped with a 4K/UHD TV, television standards are changing and so are viewers' expectations. France Télévisions is adapting its offering and is becoming the first audiovisual group to introduce an Ultra High Definition (UHD) channel on TNT.
How do you see the future of France TV?
On 9 and 10 November, France Télévisions will be present at SATIS at the Docks de Paris in La Plaine Saint-Denis. SATIS is the French-speaking trade fair dedicated to creation and technological innovations in media, entertainment and audiovisual communication.
Since June, new experiment has been taking place on the France 3 network: live broadcasts and media transmissions via a Starlink antenna.
On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Grand Raid, France Télévisions is setting up an event channel: Réunion 1ère Ultra-HD. During the four days, 24 hours a day, eligible viewers on the island or in mainland France will be able to follow the race live, watch the best moments or discover 4K programmes produced by the Réunion la 1ère teams.
The teams of france.tv sport of the Directorate of the Means of Production and of the Directorate of Technologies and Information Systems deployed an important scheme to cover the 24th edition of the Winter Olympic Games.

Closed captions are produced everyday for the French public news channel, from 6 to 9 AM and from 9 PM to midnight. In addition, on France TV website and applications, franceinfo will receive automatic subtitling thanks to an Artificial Intelligence during the rest of the day.
