Final test before launching automatic subtitling of franceinfo

Closed captions are produced everyday for the French public news channel, from 6 to 9 AM and from 9 PM to midnight. In addition, on France TV website and applications, franceinfo will receive automatic subtitling thanks to an Artificial Intelligence during the rest of the day.

    In close collaboration with the ARCOM (the French National Broadcast and Online Authory) and several associations reprensenting deaf and hearing impaired telespectators, France Télévisions tested an automatic subtitling solution on its News channel franceinfo during summer 2022. This experiment leaded all stakeholders to wish its industrialization in order to offer complementary subtitles from 6 AM to midnight everyday, in addition to the existing closed captions for hearing impaired, actually produced only 6 hours a day.
