On the occasion of the 6th Start-up and Innovation Summit, Delphine Ernotte-Cunci, CEO of France Télévisions, announced the launch of a partnership between France Télévisions and YouM3dia, EuraTechnologies' media start-up incubator. Launched in September 2020 in partnership with Challenges and ESJ Lille, this initiative supports innovative projects in the media industry that promote editorial (new formats. etc.), technical (AI, blockchain, Green IT, etc.) and functional (targeting, personalisation, interactivity, new advertising experiences, etc.) solutions that guarantee the reliability of information, and optimise audience engagement and experience. This year, it is welcoming its third batch of entrepreneurs. Thanks to the involvement of France's leading broadcaster for the second edition of the programme, entrepreneurs incubated at YouM3dia can now access support from France Télévisions' innovation experts.

YouM3dia: tailor-made coaching for innovative project owners in the media industry

Following the launch (September 2020) of this new start-up incubator, EuraTechnologies and its partners defined the following objectives:

-           to support the creation of new and innovative media solutions for the industry

-           to promote the development of new monetisation solutions and content production and verification tools

-           to encourage synergies (professional expertise, access to funding, access to partner data and facilities)

The programme is aimed at innovative projects and start-ups launched less than one year ago differentiating it from the rest of the French incubator start-up landscape, which tends to focus on supporting more mature businesses. Project owners incubated at YouM3dia can access a series of workshops, and business coaching and mentoring sessions, as well as getting the opportunity to network with other businesses in the same industry. The start-up entrepreneurs are also supported by Start-up Managers and receive expert advice from a range of business partners: legal, financial, technological, strategic advice and so forth (business model, marketing, HR, etc.).

After selecting a dozen project owners in the first edition of the programme in September 2020, and then nine from the second round in January 2021, YouM3dia is now ready for the third round of project applications. Applicants have until 18 April 2021 to submit their application. Short-listed projects will be presented to the jury on 3 May 2021.

An opportunity for France Télévisions

In the wake of its ambition to be a key driver of European innovation in media, France Télévisions joins YouM3dia program.

For the group, it’s the opportunity to:

·         Identify the trends of innovation in media and detect interesting opportunity through the local projects pool

·         Engage and acculturate group employees by matching start-ups and France Télévisions teams

·         Reinforce the local anchoring of France Télévisions in ‘Hauts de France’ region

·         Spot innovative themes and formats

With France Télévisions' involvement in the ecosystem of business partners that make up YouM3dia, project owners can now benefit from the expertise of the Open Innovation team working in France Télévisions’ Innovation and Prospection Division. They can also access support from Medialab (innovation hub of the News Division), France 3 Hauts-de-France, and other divisions. France Télévisions will also help start-ups by sharing its audiovisual network, and piloting new incubator projects and solutions.
