"Long ago, a first Star defeated the Darkness. As shadows resurface, the stars are on the verge of disappearing. You are the last-born star and must free your sisters from the darkness. With their help, you will unveil your incredible potential and learn the secrets of light and shadows. All for one." This is how the adventure in Fight Back begins. Throughout the experience, users, equipped with a Quest2 headset and hand-tracking technology, are fully immersed in a finely crafted world of visuals, effects, music, and sound, creating a harmonious work of art.

The removal of handheld controllers adds a new dimension to the experience. Users are completely free in their movements, greatly facilitating the learning of self-defense techniques and muscle memory development. This technology has already proven effective in motor physical rehabilitation used by therapists.

Fight Back serves as a tool for learning self-defense techniques through simple postures and sequenced practice levels. The approach remains constant: identify the danger, resist the threat, and finally, fight back. In Céline Tricart's universe, this gamified learning sequence is fully integrated into the adventure, as users continuously learn new self-defense techniques that will be useful in subsequent stages of the experience.
Fight Back is the very first virtual reality co-production by France Télévisions, available online on the Quest store. Fight Back exemplifies France Télévisions' commitment to engaging and meaningful immersive storytelling in virtual reality, which is an integral part of our public service mission.
In addition to learning self-defense, the virtual reality experience also allows users to discover and rehabilitate illustrious females pioneers from our history who have been marginalized over the centuries. We'll leave the surprise of encountering them at the end of your dreamlike journey!
A Production for Women (and more), Directed by Women
Behind Fight Back is Céline Tricart's fierce determination to use her work to empower women and contribute to the fight against the violence they face. This commitment has been evident in her previous creations, such as "The Sun Ladies" and "The Key".
Virtual reality is an incredible tool that creators can use to offer amazing experiences. While cinema is about contemplation and television is about watching, virtual reality is about living. It also places users at the heart of the narrative.

To create this new adventure, Céline Tricart assembled a predominantly female team, and at the end of the experience, users will discover the voices of Aïssa Maïga, Adèle Haenel, and Camélia Jordana.

Fight Back in the Real World
After being selected for official competition at the Venice Film Festival 2022, and being presented at the 3rd Palais Augmenté Festival (an initiative of Fisheye and the Rmn) at the Grand Palais Éphémère and the Sunny Side of the Doc, last June, Fight Back VR has reached a new milestone!
On 17 July, Céline Tricart had the honour of presenting her work to over 200 leaders from the video game industry, universities and NGOs, and speaking at the Games and SDG Summit at the United Nations!
During her speech, the creator talked about the social impact that virtual reality can have.

The Games and SDG Summit is the very first event to bring the video games industry together at the UN to discuss the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The half-day event brought together leaders from the games industry, policy, media and the not-for-profit sector to spark dialogue, identify strategies and explore how games and extended reality (XR) technologies, such as virtual and augmented reality, can support key UN SDGs, including education, equality, justice, climate action and sustainable cities and communities.
